What is Advanced Placement Classes?

Advanced Placement (AP) classes are rigorous, college-level courses that give our students the opportunity to challenge themselves academically while earning potential college credit. AP courses are aligned with College Board standards and prepare students for a comprehensive AP exam administered each spring.

 

Students who successfully complete an AP course and earn a qualifying score on the AP exam receive:

  • College credit or advanced placement at many colleges and universities

  • Weighted GPA consideration (depending on school policy)

  • Strong preparation for college-level reading, writing, and analytical skills

College Now @ Lehman College:

College Now is a collaborative program between the City University of New York (CUNY) and the New York City Department of Education (DOE). It is a FREE dual enrollment and transition program for qualified NYC public high school students.  Through College Now, students get an early introduction to the college environment and a jump start on college coursework by taking credit-bearing college-level courses at the Lehman College campus. This experience helps students build the academic skills that are necessary to be successful in college.

National Education Equity Lab: 

 

This program enables our students to take credit bearing college courses in partnership with universities including Howard, Morehouse, Spelman, Stanford, Wharton, University of Pennsylvania, Wesleyan, Cornell, Georgetown, Arizona State University, Barnard, Brown, University of Pennsylvania, University of California and Harvard (inaugural course). Equity lab delivers and supports with adjusting online credit-bearing courses into the teacher-led high school curriculum. There is no cost to students. Courses offered have included Introduction to Criminal Justice, Introduction to Sociology, and Social Problems.
